The Jack Russell Terrier Research Foundation
Your Donations Help Terriers
Medical research projects take tens of thousands of dollars to complete, research that could not be done without your support.
The research starts with the genetic surveys. ALL breeders, as well as owners of individual infected Jack Russells, are asked to complete a short, confidential survey. Data from this survey will be reported only in summary form, so it is not necessary to identify yourself or your terriers. It is hoped that these data will be useful for future research projects as background information and as a tool to determine the most prevalent genetic diseases in the JRT, so our available research funds can be directed most effectively. The results of the genetic surveys returned so far have been published in True Grit, the JRTCA's quarterly magazine. The results reflect problems such as bad bites, deafness, and ataxia as well as lens luxation and other debilitating diseases that effect our breed. The research projects follow the results of genetic surveys, and the ongoing research results are posted on the JRTRF web site.
