The JRTRF will be conducting a DNA clinic at the Autumn Fest Trial, Saturday/Sunday, September 23/24, 2017. The blood draw is free, the shipping is free, we will provide the forms.
All you have to do is bring a copy of your pedigree.
The DNA will be stored at our DNA Bank at the University of Missouri.
Please let Cheryl Costello know if you will be participating so she can keep a list.
This is not only for breeders/show people… blood from any JRT with a pedigree can be banked and be helpful in our quest to find markers for all of the genetic diseases that afflict our breed. You don’t have to be a breeder or show person to help your breed be the healthiest it can be!!
If you have any questions at all, please ask. Even if it is as simple as “What is the DNA bank for?” Please ask. You will have the entire Jack Russell Terrier Research Foundation board at this trial and we are happy to explain anything you have questions about!
We will also have a laptop to be able to walk folks through the Jack Russell Terrier Health Registry submission process as well as be able to show how it can be used.
If your terrier’s blood is not in the DNA bank yet, this is a great chance to remedy that. It is free and all JRTs with pedigrees (even “just pets” and spayed/neutered) are welcome and encouraged to be submitted. Just be sure to bring a copy of the pedigree for each dog to have blood drawn.
If you have questions, please ask any of the JRTRF board members.
